Betsy Markey to speak at Focus the Nation:  

"Global Warming What Government Can Do"

Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm:

CSU Focus the Nation Panel: Global Warming What Government Can Do.  Tom Plant (Dir of Governor's Energy Office), Dr. Laksham Guruswamy (UC International Environmental Law and Center for Energy and Environmental Security).

 Location: CSU Yates Hall Room 104. 

Whether you drive a Hummer or ride a Specialized, you're invited to CSU's "Focus the Nation" teach-in on global climate change. This free, informative, non-partisan event is open to all members of the Fort Collins community.

Running all day Wednesday and Thursday, January 30-31, in the Lory Student Center on campus, Focus the Nation features over 35 speakers, including:

* Atmospheric scientist Scott Denning on "Tiny Molecules That Change the World."

* Philosopher and theologian Holmes Rolston on "The Ethics of Climate Change."

* Local entrepreneur Nicolas Theisen of New Belgium Brewery on "Green Beer, Green business."

* Tom Plant, Director of Governor Ritter's Office of Energy Management and Conservation, on "New Statewide Climate Initiatives."

Focus the Nation will also have exhibits on new green technologies, on how to calculate your carbon footprint, new experiments from CSU's popular "Little Shop of Physics," and much, much more.

Other highlights include a National Webcast, Wednesday night at 6, with sustainability expert Hunter Lovins and actor Edward Norton
