If you are longing for a short vacation away from your hectic urban lifestyle, joining one of the Kerala house boat tour is the best option.  You only need four days to get away from the city.  This short sojourn in Kerala will take you to a cruise from the port city of Cochin, down to Alleppey, ending in Kumarakom.

Your tour will start on arrival in Cochin airport or railway station.  Then you embark on a boat cruise, where you first spend touring this port city, appropriately known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, which is built on islands and peninsulas and connected to the mainland of Ernakulam.  Being the only metro in Kerala, Cochin is a commercial hub, a legacy of its trading history.  On your boat cruise, you will visit the Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church, Bolghatty, Gunda and Willington Islands, as well as various museums showcasing Cochin's rich history. this tour will end at sundown, when you will be driven to a Kathakali show, to enjoy Kerala's classical dance. Your trip will continue on to Alleppey, aptly called the Venice of the south as it is spread on lakes, canals and lagoons.

Lying between the Arabian Sea and Vembanad Lake, this is a hub for boat cruises in Kerala. On your arrival, you will board a traditional house boat for a one night cruise. This will take you a full day's journey through time, sailing along old villages, coconut palms and just gazing at scenes of Kerala's local life. You disembark the house boat the next day, after which you will be driven toKumarakom, where you go sightseeing and visit its bird sanctuary. Your journey will end in Kumarakom,from which you will be driven to Cochin airport or railway station for your trip back to the city.
